The first time we tasted it, it was over a long dinner with Angelo, and we still talk about it.
There’s something about the Piedirosso grape. Maybe it’s the volcanic soul you feel from the first sip, or the wild herbs that make it taste like the hills around Roccamonfina.

It’s not a big, bold wine, and that’s exactly why we love it. It’s honest, earthy, and elegant.
Perfect with a pizza or a proper ragù, but just as good with nothing but a glass and a sunset.

Fattoria Pagano

The journey began in 2001, when Antonio Pagano, together with his son Angelo, pursued a dream: to introduce the world to Falerno del Massico. This wine descends from Falernian Wine, the legendary Roman red wine, once considered the finest of antiquity.

Fattoria Pagano is dedicated to preserving this millennia-old tradition, producing wines that embody the history and excellence of the region.

Piedirosso

Piedirosso is an ancient red grape native to Campania, especially the Naples and Vesuvius area. For many years, winemakers used it mostly in blends, often with Aglianico. But recently, thanks to a few visionary producers, Piedirosso has taken centre stage.
This grape now enjoys a well-deserved renaissance. In its pure form, it produces elegant wines with a deep ruby colour and aromas of violets, red berries, and volcanic herbs. On the palate, it offers medium body, gentle tannins, and a refreshing acidity.
Today, Piedirosso is cultivated across Campania, but the volcanic soils near Roccamonfina and Vesuvius give it a unique character. These wines express the land — raw, expressive, and beautifully drinkable.
