Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOCG 2018 – Savini

£24.70

The Riserva pours a deep ruby red with garnet highlights. On the nose, it opens with bold aromas of cherry and black cherry jam, intertwined with dried flowers, sweet tobacco, and a whisper of cardamom.
On the palate, it is intense and layered. The silky tannins support flavours of sour cherry, marasca, and a hint of liquorice. The acidity is well integrated, giving balance to the wine’s generous body. The finish is long and spicy, where Amarena cherry takes the lead.
Aged for 18 months in 500-litre French oak tonneaux, this is a wine of impressive structure and complexity.
Perfect with slow-cooked meats, roasted lamb, beef tagliata, “arrosticini,” braised dishes, and aged cheeses.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOCG, why we love it and why you'll love it too!

This Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOCG is a memory of slow Sunday lunches, the scent of roast in the air, and the warmth of family.
Every swirl releases a story: ripe cherries cooked down to jam, dried flowers tucked between old books, and the faint smoke of a wood fire.
Aged for 18 months in oak, its power lies in its balance — rich but not heavy, structured yet graceful.
The tannins are velvety. The acidity keeps everything fresh.
And the finish? All marasca cherry and spice — like the final touch of a well-written novel.
It’s the kind of wine you’ll want to share when the evening is special, or when you want to make it so.

Savini

Fattoria Giuseppe Savini was founded in 1949 in the heart of Abruzzo. It all began with Vincenzo Savini and was later expanded by his son Giuseppe, who revived the family brand after a cooperative experience.

Today, the company is led by Giovanni, Michele, Simone, and Sigismondo — the latter overseeing vineyard care with dedication and expertise. With the arrival of the fourth generation, new energy and fresh ideas are shaping the future of the winery.
Savini is more than a name. It’s a family, a legacy, and a promise of quality rooted in tradition, yet always looking ahead.
