Sangiovese Resultum 2013 – Umberto Cesari

£90.00

This wine is iconic of the winery’s sustainability approach. Resultum, from the Latin verb ”resilire”, is a tribute to the natural ability of the Estate vineyards to adapt to the marked climate changes occurring in recent years. A red wine styled for lengthy cellaring, with the Sangiovese grapes grown in vineyards averaging 20 years old and yielding 6.5 tonnes of grapes per hectare. After meticulous quality-selection of the berries, the must ferments in temperature-controlled, fibreglass-lined concrete vats, with a successive maceration on the skins of 25-30 days. It matures a number of months in the same vats, then ages in the bottle for an additional 12 months.

Land, Soul, Wine. Over 55 harvest of history.
Land: All the wines produced by Cesari are made within the 255 hectares of vineyards. Claterna, Casetta, Parolino, Laurento, Tauleto, Ca Grande, Miravalle and Liano are the estates in Emilia Romagna, Italy. All protected by a very particular soil; a crown-like formation of blue clay rocks known as Calanchi Azzurri. These rocks along with the climate helps the vine growing.
Soul: All the process includes the value of experience combined with the state of the art production techniques showing every day Cesari passion and respect for a rigorous method that is the base for great quality products.
Wine: any single bottle bottled by Cesari contains the best of the knowledge and know how, the flavour of the grapes that distinguish the area of production and the grape.
Heritage, Innovation and sustainability are the pillars of Umberto Cesari winery. The first to be certified as a ”National Integrated Production Quality System”(SQNPI) for the production of grapes and wines in the Emilia Romagna region. All the practices adopted  aiming to preserve the land and the vines.

Sangiovese

Italy’s most planted wine variety and the pride of the Tuscan regional wine, Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino, it’s actually quite rare outside of Italy, in terms of world plantings.
Sangiovese is a sensitive grape that takes on different stylistic expressions based on where it grows, like a chameleon; easily altering its genetics to fit the environment. There are many different mutations of the variety all over Italy, which results in very different tasting wines. From the delicate floral strawberry aromas of Montefalco Rosso to the intensely dark and tannic wines of Brunello di Montalcino, Sangiovese wine has something for everyone.
The high acidity in this wine make it versatile with a wide variety of vegetable and spice-driven foods; think tomato, red pepper, and just about anything grilled.
