Negroamaro Il Morantino 2020 – Vini La Pruina

£19.90

A superb wine produced from Negroamaro grapes, harvested late and produced with traditional winemaking techniques, with the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts during alcoholic fermentation. Intense and fruity at the nose, bouquet with aromas of black currant, liquorice and tobacco.
The elegant taste reproduces the aromas found on the nose and has a consistent and velvety body with a perfect balance between the aromas of red fruits, tobacco and spicy notes. The tannins are balanced, round and soft.

Pruina is the name of the wax you can find on the skin of the grapes. Vini la Pruina some years ago started looking for some vineyards particularly suited to high quality viticulture. After continuous research throughout the area of Salento, they found two small vineyards belonging to Pietro, a wise vinegrower who had always treated them according to traditional methods and manual care. Intrigued and fascinated by the extraordinary relationship between Pietro and his plants Vini La Pruina becomes one of the vinery which express the Salento terroir and the passion for it. The flagship is the Primitivo di Manduria DOP and with the Salice Salentino, Malvasia Bianca and Negroamaro Rosato you have a full range of wine perfect for any moment.

Negroamaro

A red wine that grows in abundance in Puglia but almost nowhere else; producing wines with rich black fruit flavors with a distinct finish of dried herbs. It’s believed the name Negroamaro, derives from the Latin and Greek words “Niger” and “Mavros” both of which mean “black” referring to the dark colour of the berries.
The grape is a dark-skinned tend to show a deep ruby-red color in youth, graduating to richer, darker red after a couple of years. Its aromatics are elegant, and young Negromaro typically displays notes of fresh red cherry, forest fruits, liquorice and tobacco.
With some age, the wines take on other aromas like dried prunes, black pepper and some herbal and botanical notes. On the palate, Negroamaro can take on an earthy character, with some spice and occasionally a chunky tannic finish.
