Falanghina "Orme" Puglia IGT, why we love it and why you'll love it too!

Falanghina “Orme” brings sunshine to your glass. With its zesty freshness and silky texture, it tastes like the perfect summer afternoon by the sea. The soft touch of vanilla gives it a quiet elegance, while the mineral notes speak of southern Italian hills kissed by the sun.
It’s the wine you’ll reach for when dinner feels like a celebration, or when you want to make it one!

Massimo Leone

Massimo Leone began its journey in 2007 in the heart of the Tavoliere delle Puglie. A passionate farmer established the winery to revive and honour the deep connection between history and land. With this vision, native grape varieties were planted, continuing the traditions set by the ancient Greeks thousands of years ago. The vineyards thrive on light-coloured, rocky soil, making the espalier the only suitable training system.
The winery prioritises quality at every stage. Irrigation is carefully managed, pruning and rasping are meticulous, and yields per hectare are kept low. Grapes are hand-harvested at their optimal balance of sugars and acids. Located near the cellar, the vines cultivate exceptional varieties such as Fiano, Falanghina, Bombino, Primitivo, Aglianico and Nero di Troia.

La cantina embraces traditional and sustainable farming methods. Insecticides are avoided, relying instead on sulfur and copper, which effectively prevent mildew and powdery mildew due to Puglia’s favourable climate. To enrich the soil naturally, the winery plants fava beans in the vineyards. This ancient Roman agricultural practice significantly enhances soil nutrients and structure while maintaining sustainability.

Falanghina

Falanghina is one of Southern Italy’s most ancient and fascinating white grapes. Its name comes from Falanga, the stake that traditionally supports the vines.
Once nearly forgotten, Falanghina made a comeback after surviving the phylloxera crisis and is now widely grown in Campania, Puglia and beyond.
It produces expressive wines with pure citrus and white fruit aromas, often enriched by notes of bread crust from lees ageing.
Whether fresh and vibrant or aged and complex, Falanghina always offers elegance and character—sometimes even with a petrol hint, reminiscent of fine aged Riesling.
