Bodega Del Fin Del Mundo has been producing wines since 2002 in San Patricio del Chañar, Province of Neuquén, North of Patagonia Argentina. The winery is part of Eurnekian Family Wine Estates, representing the purest of one of the southernmost terroirs in the world.
The goal is to create wines that reflect their location, full of sun and Patagonian freshness. This privileged terroir is one of the world’s southernmost wine regions. The history of this valley begins in the 1970s with fruit orchards that infused life to the area.
In 1990 they were the first to vision that, the Patagonian desert had a great hidden wine potential. Work began in the fields of San Patricio del Chañar with one objective in mind: to create high quality wines with their own identity, able to seduce the international palate.
It’s a black-skinned grape variety, one of the major black grape varieties worldwide, that produce a medium-bodied red wine whose origins likely lie in the Basque country of
France. The wine is loved for its savory and its medium-high. It is an ideal pairing wine with a wide variety of foods due to their natural high acidity and slightly reduced tannin.
France is the largest producer with the famous “Right Bank” Bordeaux blend features Cabernet Franc and
Merlot, and also The Loire Valley is specializes but as a single-varietal wine.
Italy is the second largest producer, much of it is made in
Friuli Venezia Giulia but the most famous Italian Cabernet Franc comes from
Tuscany as know as “Super Tuscan”.
A great example of a Super Tuscan will have ripe and rich aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, red pepper flakes and a hint of chalky dry gravel and leather. On the palate there will be boldness from elevated alcohol with mocha, cinnamon, and plum flavors complimented by medium-high acidity and moderately high tannin.
DNA analysis has proven that Cabernet Franc is the parent of both Merlot and
Cabernet Sauvignon (for the latter, the other parent being
Sauvignon Blanc).
