Langhe Dolcetto DOC 2019 – Poderi Cellario
£15.80
On the nose come notes of white pepper and rose with hints of brambly red fruits. On the palate the wine is remarkably fresh yet grippy, with firm silky tannins. The flavors that come through again are herbal and fruity, with notes of wild raspberry, ripe cranberry, and both white and black pepper. This is An ‘old-style’ Dolcetto, the vinification process is the ancient “foot crusching” technique that the grandfathers used to do: half of the grapes are pressed, while the other half are only destemmed. This allows to intensify the perfumes of Dolcetto and achieve a fresh and fragrant wine, with delicate tannins.
Did you know: Dolcetto literally means “the little sweet one”, but while the wine made with Dolcetto grapes are usually dry, the grapes are quite sweet and naturally low in acidity. Italy’s first President, Luigi Enaudi, loved it so much that planted thousands of Dolcetto vines in his estate in Piemonte.
